The iPad 2 has a new design, a new faster processor – Apple A5, and front and rear video cameras for video calls. In addition, the new iPad 2 is a third thinner which makes it thinner than the iPhone 4. The USA release date is the 11th March and in The UK iPad 2 goes on sale 25th March.
The new iPad 2 unveiled by Apple in the USA today has a thinner design than the iPad 1 and Apple’s new processor A5 is according to Apple itself just as energy efficient as its predecessor, but faster and equipped with dual cores. According to Apple the processor will work twice as fast and the graphics a whapping nine times faster, this combined with an improved gyroscope could make it great gadget for gamers. On the front now sits a video camera and you’ll find the same thing on the back so that’s perfect for video calls with Apple’s own software ‘”Face Time”.
Compared with the first iPad there have been some changed in the casing or exterior design. The edges are more rounded, and where as the last iPad is 13.3 millimeters thick, the iPad 2 is 8.8 mm in the thickest part. That’s about half a millimeter thinner than the current iPhone 4. The new iPad 2 comes in two colours both of which will be available from launch in March 2011, black and white.

The iPad 2 has the same battery life as its predecessor and Apple themselves are talking about 10 hours of battery life and a one-month standby. There are both WLAN and a version with both 3G and WLAN for those that want to leave the house with their iPads!. They will both be offered for sale in three variations with different storage – 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. The UK price of the iPad 2 is expected to be in line with the current iPad – expect that the original iPad will now fall in price as retailer look to shift stock before the iPad 2 hits the shelves.
A closer look at the other new features in iPad2 reveal one HDMI-out which allows the gadget lover to connect it to a TV with a HDMI cable and just such a connection is provided by a kind of adapter and then you can watch while charging iPad. The adapter will cost $US 39 extra. Among other accessories mention Steve Jobs is a new protection and instead of hiding iPad 2 in one case, Apple has made a protection that only protects the screen. It works by utilising magnets, which can be folded in different ways so the case becomes both a guard and a rack so you can have the iPad at different angles depending on if you are watching movies, photos or whatever.

Apple iPad 2 – What Was New?
Keeping up to date with any of Apple’s products can be difficult at the best of times since they usually release a new model for every product every year or so. If you’re wondering whether it’s worth spending some extra money to get the new iPad 2 rather than the original iPad, hopefully you’ll understand most of the main differences by the end of this article. The iPad 2 has been quite a big improvement from the original iPad and here are some of the main things that you should know:
1. Design – The iPad 2 nearly has a brand new design compared to the original iPad and it has improved for the better! Firstly, it’s a lot thinner than the previous model (33% thinner actually) as well as being around 15% lighter than the older model.
2. Two Cameras – On the original iPad, there was just one camera but with the iPad 2 there are now two cameras. There is one on the back as you’d expect, but now there’s also another on the front of the iPad. Apple have done this so iPad users can now use Facetime (which allows you to video call anyone else that is able to use Facetime) since it was very popular with iPhone owners.
3. iPad 2 Smart Cover – A new cover for the iPad 2? You might be thinking that this doesn’t sound like something that’s worth talking about. However, it really is worth talking about. With the new cover which is called a smart cover, you can put your iPad 2 to sleep or wake without even pressing any buttons. When you open the cover the iPad will automatically wake while if you put the cover over the screen it’ll automatically go to sleep. Pretty cool, isn’t it?
4. Choice of Colours – While this mightn’t sound too special, if you’re interested in buying an iPad 2 you might be happy to know that you’ve a choice of colours now. Although it’s not a large choice (between black and white!) it’s certainly better than no choice at all like we had with the originally iPad.
5. HDMI-Out – This is another great new thing that has been added to the iPad 2. With the ability of HDMI-Out, you can have whatever is on the iPads screen displayed on your HD television. This can really come in handy if you want to show your friends of family some recent pictures that you’ve taken on your iPad or you want to watch a movie on your television from your iPad. The only thing is that this comes at a cost, as you’ll need to purchase an adapter to be able to do this.
